Peter Kang
Chief Product Officer
A dedicated leader and student of transformation, I bring a diverse background spanning music, contemporary art, and both individual and organizational transformational coaching to my role as Chief Product Officer at Shepherd U. Born and raised in New York City, I’ve lived and traveled across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, shaping a unique global perspective. I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology from SUNY Stony Brook, where I served as Program Director for the university radio station and Chairman of the Student Activities Board, and an MBA from Mercy College, awarded on a scholarship for my involvement in the arts. Early in my career, I worked as a talent scout for SONY Music and later led Urban A&R and Marketing at Relativity Records, discovering artists like Common, Fat Joe, and Kanye West, and collaborating with Eminem, Mos Def, and Linkin Park. As Executive Producer on Common’s Resurrection album, I helped shape hip-hop history. Transitioning to the art world, I worked with Christie’s Post-War department and the Andy Warhol Foundation, blending contemporary art with digital innovation. I also led Kang Collection, my family’s Korean art gallery, partnering with institutions like The Met and the Smithsonian to showcase the richness of Korean culture. At Shepherd U, I combine my expertise in music, art, and education with my passion for transformation to design programs that empower leaders to unlock their potential. Outside of work, I’m an avid runner, arts enthusiast, and committed to fostering wellness, integrity, and service. My vision is to create global transformation through collaboration with like-minded leaders and organizations.
Ash Straw
Chief Operating Officer
A voice for healing and transformation, my professional journey has been defined by enabling matchless visionaries, healers, and thought leaders of our time to drive innovative, large-scale change. Among these leaders is Shawnee Renee Benton, founder of the Spirit of a Woman Leadership Development Institute, creator of the Aftershock documentary (Disney/Hulu/Sundance), and pioneer of the Motherwit movement, for whom I served as Executive Assistant and Head Coach of Programs. And other leaders in wellness like Erin Hastikostas, Erica Jago, Cory Tixier, and Dr. Siva Mohan. I built and served as Chief Operating Officer of the Flow and Restore Collective, a multidisciplinary wellness organization that became the preferred provider of community wellness services for United Healthcare in downstate New York. The collective specialized in Yoga Teacher Training, offering highly-rated 200-hour, 500-hour, and Yoga Nidra Teacher Trainings. As a 500-hour ERYT accredited by the Yoga Alliance, I have personally taught over 3,000 hours of yoga programs. That fervent passion for training and development also led me to coach, design, and deliver transformational leadership programs for C-level executives of Fortune 100 companies and global philanthropic nonprofits. Additionally, in collaboration with MKBS Media, I oversaw the development of thousands of self-paced online courses, primarily in the fine arts, which boast millions of students worldwide.
